The Federal Government has imposed sanctions on a nursing home at Alphington in Melbourne's north, because its residents are at serious risk. The Department of Health and Ageing took action against the 30-bed Latrobe Private Nursing Home at the weekend, following two spot checks. Inspectors found residents could not ask for help, their meals were inadequate, their medication was not properly managed, and the nursing home was not safe. The home's licence will be cancelled unless an administrator is appointed. It will also be ineligible for any new Government funding for six months. There are now 14 nursing homes under sanction around Australia. Source: ABC News Newer articles:
