AN ELDERLY woman who suffered burns after smoking a cigarette has died in hospital.

The woman is believed to have died from burns caused while she was smoking outside at the Helping Hand Aged Care facility in Parafield Gardens late yesterday evening.

A South Australian Ambulance Service spokesman last night confirmed a woman was "urgently'' conveyed to hospital in a serious condition shortly before 5pm.
