Aged Care Advocacy Groups

  • Combined Pensioners & Superannuants Association of NSW Inc (CPSA)
    CPSA was founded in 1931 in response to pension cuts. CPSA is a non-profit, non-party-political membership association which serves pensioners of all ages, superannuants and low-income retirees. The aim of CPSA is to improve the standard of living and well-being of its members and constituents.  CPSA State Office provides information, support, advice and referral on all issues which affect pensioners of all ages, superannuants and low-income retirees. CPSA is also funded to provide a range of specialised services. CPSA energetically pursues its goals by: informing governments, local councils and parliamentarians; informing pensioners, superannuants, low income retirees and the public; providing a consumer voice on committees; and providing community and low cost social activities through its branches in NSW.

  • Daniel's Shield
    Daniel's Shield (Doesn't Allow Neglect In Elderly Lives') is a not for profit community action group (based in Queensland), which last year began highlighting flaws in the Federal Government's Aged Care Complaints Investigation Scheme.

Senior's Community Groups

  • www.silverpeers.com is the brainchild of 68-year-old Forest Lake resident Hans Hagen, who developed the site three years ago to introduce and educate the elderly about computers and the internet.  The site has a forum where members can play word and online games, write poetry and chat with each other. It's been credited with advocating current medical research that shows "use it or lose it" is the way to keep the brain healthy in advancing years.

    Alzheimer's Australia is the peak body providing support and advocacy for the 500,000 Australians living with dementia.

MedlinePlus also has extensive information about drugs, an illustrated medical encyclopedia, interactive patient tutorials, and latest health news.
