I trained and then commenced paid work at (Nursing home name omitted) but after a few months I left as I was ashamed to be working there. There was an RN who spoke - no yelled and told the resident off for asking for help and keeping his staff from doing there work with the other residents. I got told off for caring and was told by him that if I want to care I should go do one on one work. There was this lady who needed to go to the toilet but because she had been a couple of hours earlier I wasn't to take her and she was in tears and distraught. I didn't like the fact that if someone was dying they were just put in their room and when you had time which was never you could pop in to see how they where how can you leave someone to die on there own they would be scarred and feel abandoned. I've done palliative care but there was no way you could use your experience there. I'm sad to say, but it was all about the money first and everyone else came last. There was a few days where we had no continence pads and towels where actually being used. The shower chairs there where one or two that where bought by a persons family and we had to use it for everyone and when it broke because someone else was using it they Amade that person who owned the chair pay to get it fixed. Some of the PCA's because we had so little time to get everything we needed to done they would just powder the resident and not wash them at all. I was told to cut as many corners as I had to cos I was a bit slower because I wanted to do everything properly but the owner's name omitted will deny saying any of this as that's what they always say when they tell the staff off. I just don't want them to find out I told you any of this but it isn't fair on the residents and families who think their loved ones are being taken care of as they would like. There was mould in the showers and toilets broken and still being used. Staff member working in Victorian aged care facility
