Over medication

"Several years ago, my mother had a heart pacemaker inserted. Two years ago, she was evaluated by two major psychiatric facilities, and diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. During these times, she was given ever-increasing medicines, in higher doses, to manage her condition.

My mothers health was becoming worse. She was lethargic, depressed, fatigued, despondent, suffered memory loss, lacked energy - had a major loss of quality of life. My mother's physician declared she had a "failure to thrive," a condition in elderly in which no treatment seems to return them to good health. She suggested hospice care. I didn’t buy it. I was convinced that my mother wasn’t ready to die...

Within two months of first visiting the integrative/holistic physician, my mother was taken off twelve of the fifteen medications she was receiving. He placed her on various supplements to boost her immune system and memory and made suggestions for diet and exercise. He explained that my mother did not have Alzheimer’s, rather she suffered dementia caused by strokes.

Today, my mother is happy, alert, vibrant and full of energy. Even if she died tomorrow, I would be pleased my mother experienced the best quality of life available to her - especially after losing nearly five years to allopathic care. Integrative/holistic physicians can be found in free directories in any health food store, the yellow pages and various health magazines can also direct you to associations for referrals."
