My wife are co-convenors of a Residents and Relatives group at (name removed to protect author) Nursing home and have been for some five years .

Most of the items that have come to light in the media recently are not new, a perusal of our records over the past five years these items occur regularly.

In our capacity of convenors we have continuously brouht these serious items to the notice of  the DON , the CEO , ARCS,ADACAS and The Accreditation Agency with some small degree of success but often feeling like we are banging our heads agains a brick wall.
We feel that the responsible people just didn't want to know about them. Perhaps funding is the reason for this.
